Puddle Jumps Baby Towel & Face Cloth


Supplies:

  • Cotton yarns any colors
  • US 10 Knitting Needle
  • Crochet Hook (your choice of size)
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors

Stitches Used:

  • K – Knit
  • P – Purl
  • YO – Yarn Over
  • SL ST– Slip Stitch
  • WYIB – With Yarn In Back
  • WYIF – With Yarn In Front
  • STS – Stitches
  • SLPW – Slip Stitch Purl Wise
  • KRIC – Knit Row 2 St I-cord {First 2 sts of the row: Wyib slpw, Knit next st. Last 2 sts of the row: Wyib slpw, wyif Purl next st.}
  • PRIC – Purl Row 2 St I-cord {First 2 Sts of the row: Wyib slpw, Purl next st. Last 2 Sts of the row: Wyif slpw, Purl next st.}


Pattern:

Towel…

Always start and finish each row with the two Stitch I-cord.

Cast On 59 sts.

  1. Knit
  2. PRIC, Purl to last 2 sts. Finish with the last 2 sts of the PRIC.
  3. KRIC, Knit to last 2 sts. Finish with the last 2 sts of the KRIC.
  4. Repeat row 2.
  5. Repeat row 3.
  6. KRIC, k2, *yo, k3, pass 1st st over the last 2 sts*. Repeat to the last 4 sts, K2, finish the KRIC.
  7. PRIC, Purl it to last 2 sts.
  8. KRIC, Purl2, *K1, P2*, repeat to last 4sts,K2, finish KRIC.
  9. PRIC, Purl to last 2 sts.
  10. Repeat row 8.
  11. Repeat row 9.

  13. Repeat row 7.
  14. KRIC, Purl to last 2 sts.
  15. PRIC, Knit to last 2 sts.
  16. KRIC, Purl to last 2 sts.
  17. PRIC, Knit to last 2 sts.

Repeat pattern 6 thru 17 until desired length. On the last pattern repeat end on row 13.

I usually like hanging towels 15″ to 18″ long.

DECREASE…

  1. (RS) KRIC, *K2, K2TOG* Repeat to last 5 sts. K3, finish the KRIC.
  2. PRIC, Purl.
  3. KRIC, Purl.
  4. KRIC, P 1, *p2tog, p2*. Repeat to last 5 sts. P3.
  5. PRIC, Knit.
  6. KRIC, *k2tog.
  7. KRIC, Knit.
  8. KRIC, *K2tog.
  9. PRIC, Purl.

HANGING TAB..

  1. KRIC, Knit.
  2. PRIC, Purl.
  3. Repeat the stockinette stitch eight times or desired length.

BUTTON HOLE…If you have never made horizontal buttonholes you might like this YouTube tutorial…https://youtu.be/H5HfJhb2ddoOtherwise you may also yarn over to use as a buttonhole.

  1. K2tog in the back loops, k2. Make a button hole. K1, k2tog.
  2. Purl
  3. K2tog in back loops, K2tog, k2, k2tog, k2tog.

Bind off & fasten yarn ends. Sew on button.

Face Cloth to Match

Cast on 38.

Continue with pattern for 8″.

Bind off on right side.

To make a loop for hanging on the button.

With the G crochet hook chain 20 snug stitches. Slip stitch into the side stitch next to the first chain you made.

Finish securing the yarn with a Tapestry needle.
